A training college for potential primary school teachers, the PTC college was established in This is a residential course; great importance is attached to community activities including sanitation, kitchen management, serving of meals etc. with a view to making the trainees self-reliant. The trainees themselves, under the general supervision of one of the senior teachers, manage the hostel and kitchen.
This is a two-year course with an intake of 100 trainees – only boys. At the end of the course, trainees appear for the Primary Teachers’ Certificate Examination conducted by the State Education Department. The college has been able to maintain a fairly high percentage of results ranging from 85% to 100 %.
The Central Admission Committee of the Directorate of Primary Education in Gandhinagar issues advertisements in the newspapers after declaration of SSC results. There are 50 seats in the C. N. Talimi Vidyalaya; students seek admission to this college through the centralized process.
